John Carter 61 Cornhill London No 3520 circa 1860 english full plate movement with fusee. lever escapement with gold balance weights. it is very rare to find an english quarter striking mechanism of this quality and from this period. excellent signed dial and correct blued hands. comes with some provenance and looks to have been sold at an english auction house during the nineties. not serviced but running well and striking cleanly on two hammers and two gongs. being key wind and key set this would make an excellent candidate for re-casing 42 mm diameter.
John Carter was master of the clockmakers company three times and the Mayor of London 1857. a busy man indeed.
